So I'm finally taking a lesson from my last post, "Does Google rank money-making websites lower?" and switching from SEO (search engine optimization) to SEM (search engine marketing) to drive traffic to my websites.
I'd tried a Google Adwords campaign before -- without much success.
But now I've learned how to create better Google Adwords campaigns and make money with Google Adwords, so I'm happy to give it another try.

Google stole my traffic.
To put it more precisely, a few of the websites I set up with "buy online" somewhere in the URL were dropped down low in Google's SERPs.
It was a noticeable change. One week pageviews hovering around 2,000 daily -- the next week hovering much lower.
Ranking high for certain terms, the next day that same ranking taken away. And then given back. And then taken away again.
Could it be that the mysterious Google algorithm is set up to check URLs with "buy" or "download" in their URLs?
We know that Google probably checks the expiration date of the URL to take sites with domain expiration dates longer than one year away more seriously, but I think it also checks how much free traffic they're giving to affiliate marketers and the like.
Google penalizing money-making sites?
Google gives a clue towards its attitude towards money-making sites on their "reconsideration request" page, which forces you to admit your site "...no longer violates Google's quality guidelines...." even if you didn't violate them in the first place, then states:
"In general, sites that directly profit from traffic (e.g. search engine optimizers, affiliate programs, etc.) may need to provide more evidence of good faith before a site will be reconsidered."
Some say this is Google's way of forcing money-making sites to use Google Adwords to promote their websites instead of merely good, hard blogging SEO work for free.
Anyway, I submitted my reconsideration request. We'll see what happens....

My very first post on this blog two years ago -- December 13, 2005 -- was Motherless.
And boy oh boy, if I could've seen how far my God would've brought me from that cold winter day to this one...
Nearly 20 websites later, with me begging Him in Target today for them to turn more than enough profit to pay the Amex bill and then some, He still is providing abundantly.
So Happy 2nd Birthday, blog.
Love you, still with you, but gotta also take care of my other kids, too, now.

At the BlogHer conference, I sat next to a woman at dinner who contributes to the Yahoo Buzz log and I fawned over it.
She couldn't believe people love reading it that much.
I love them even more now that they came up with this list of Top 20 things people want to buy online right now.
To an online affiliate marketer, this stuff is gold.
Speaking of which, why are people trying to buy gold online?
And what kind of stars are they trying to buy?
Oh, I see...they're really buying the ones in the sky.

Whether it's a popular post that makes you Adsense money from the traffic, or affiliate money from the product pitched within, take advantage of all the eyeballs by giving them what they want.
Take time to go back to posts and update them with new data -- I did that a lot today on my TV site.
Or, if you're rushing to go pick up your kid from school -- hint, hint -- just take enough time to pretty up your money-making post and republish with a current date.
That way, readers don't feel like their reading old news...

Google Unpenalized my PaulaMooney.BlogSpot.com Blog... and Google is still punishing John Chow - but he's gonna be in Entrepreneur magazine!
Yesterday I noticed my waning hits on this blog were growing again, and I figured out it was because Google unpenalized me!
See -- if you do a Google search for "Paula Mooney," this blog shows up as #1 again.
Was John Chow Unpenalized Too?
I see that John Chow is still penalized by Google, because a Google search on "John Chow" only turns up the "John COW" parody site, and not his own.
Not that this is hurting him, with all that moola he's making.
(And wow, catching up with his posts, I see the Chow-man is going to be featured in an upcoming issue of Entrepreneur magazine!)
Speaking of the evil genius, I was wondering who his private advertisers are -- and how he got $11,888.79 in private ad sales.
I wonder if those are more secure or less secure than Google Adsense?
Why Did Google Penalize Then Unpenalize Me?
I don't really know why Google penalized me in the first place, but I'm glad it was only temporary.
It actually helped me change my focus off this blog and onto my niche sites -- which God has used amazingly to open up the heavens unto me. (Just wait till you see the income numbers I post up this Saturday.)
Anyway, so I'm saying all this to say that if you're one of the ones that Google dropped the PageRank down to zero because of PayPerPost (for one or all of your websites,) or if they've penalized you -- don't despair, they could reverse their decision.
And though people may get frustrated with the Big G's rules and hand-slapping, I'm still lovin' Google Adsense right now -- heck, they just helped me pay my entire American Express bill this month.

I would be remiss not to first mention a great new book I just finished reading called The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong?.
I believe The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong? is a better philosophy than The Master Cleanser.
While I have fasted here and there to try and get closer to God, if you're fasting for weight loss reasons, I'd recommend first buying and trying The Overfed Head theory.
The guy lost 160 lbs. and has kept it off since 1998.
Plus, he writes about how dramatic weight loss from some diets is harmful because you regain it all back and then some.
Please read The Overfed Head first if you're considering other things.
It makes sense.
by Paula Neal Mooney
Beautiful Beyonce appeared on a recent Oprah show telling the world how Beyonce lost 20 pounds with a "Master Cleanser" diet fast.
Beyonce went on this 14-day fast -- a liquid diet, I guess, that includes vegetables -- in order to slim down for Dreamgirls.
I remember Beyonce talking about this fast before, but I didn't know the "Master Cleanser" name till now. Of course, immediately I thought about doing it myself, especially if I want to drop weight fast if I get that Wife Swap gig.
But, is it safe?
Would I drop weight and then gain more back later?
I've done a 3-day tea with honey fast before, for spiritual reasons. Maybe it's time for another. Especially after that yummy feast I had yesterday! Master Cleanser users, let me know...

I'm going to get back on a normal monthly schedule of reporting my income, so check for my month-end report at the end of November -- soon after most of us return from traveling and eating turkey.
In the meantime here are some tips to hopefully help increase your income like mine is:
1 - Start a niche site pitching hot Amazon products.
Much of my income increase will be due to Amazon affiliate sales from niche sites. I've left a BIG hint in this post as to which one is earning the most.
2 - Don't limit yourself with just Amazon.com
One big thing God spoke to me like in Israel Houghton's "No Limits" song is to remove the boundaries I placed on myself.
Join Amazon German (Amazon.de) and Amazon France (Amazon.fr) and Amazon Canda (Amazon.ca) and Amazon UK (Amazon.co.uk) and all the others you can get the Babel translation tool to work for and pitch those products too!
I'm so happy that I've already made sales in Germany and France and I don't even speak those languages yet.
3 - Check out Amazon's new widgets
Amazon has this new deal of the day widget that's hopefully showing up right here:
They've also got a Amazon Black Friday's deal page as described below with these other products that can be a hot pitch:
Amazon.com Black Friday Deals

So, let your site visitors know that this year they shouldn’t fight the crowds when they can shop online at Amazon.com from the comfort of their own homes.

Customers Vote - 6 rounds. 18 ridiculous deals.
Amazon Customers Vote is back for 2007. Each round of Customers Vote lets you and your site visitors vote for the deal you’d most like to have. After all, seeing...
...John Chow post up $23,448.59 last month...
...and Shoe Money post $30,000 per month...
...and the Connected Internet guy post $15,179 per month...
...and Randy post $7,378 last month...
...and Lilian post $5,628.01 last month...
...I can't help but ask God -- Why am I working so hard and not seeing the same results?
Then He led me to the passage where Peter was fishing all night and caught nothing, but then Jesus came along and said, "Push out into the deep for a haul..."
And Peter said they'd been fishing all night long and caught nothing, but that on his Lord's word alone he'd try it again.
He did, and that's when so many fish came, they had to call their friends to help.
Peter left to become the "fisher of men" that Christ talked about after that.
So, my lesson learned was that I can work my butt off -- and when it's the right time, God will provide the haul -- or booty, as it were.
Then He may ask me to leave it all behind...

I recently wrote a post called "Increase your Amazon affiliate income and earnings..." and now I thought I'd expand on that to include a few more tips on how to make money online with Amazon.
Especially since Amazon sales pick up around the holidays, why not try your hand at making money thru Amazon by joining their free affiliates program and blogging about some stuff?
So here are my tips for blogging about Amazon products on your product (or everything-but-the-kitchen-sink) blog or niche site:
1 - Subscribe to the Amazon Associates Blog
I just found it! But subscribe to Amazon's associate blog to learn money-making tips with them.
2 - Write up specific product reviews, or lead people to the ones already written.
I have a Vizio TV, so it was easy to write up a short honest review of Vizio TVs. I don't yet own a dehumidifier, but I led people to the dehumidifier reviews and ratings on the product pages.
3 - Jump on hot products right away and blog about them...
..if they are in demand like the new Elmo TMX tickle me thing, if they are on Amazon, and if you feel comfortable blogging about it.
4 - Let the products you use or need inspire you
Watching an actress on TV, who wears large size 11 shoes for women inspired me to write a post about it -- since I wear the same shoe size.
5 - Blog about products you hear about offline...
...like when I saw Whoopi on The View demonstrating the Step and Flex stairmaster, or Oprah using the Flip camcorder video camera.
6 - Play around with Amazon's widgets
I just discovered the widget in this post (yay, it works on Blogger!) that drops or scroll products you select. So play around and see what works, but I've found that writing about the individual products and giving them their own URL works best.
Make money with Amazon, but don't buy products thru your own affiliate link...
I also read yesterday that buying products thru your own Amazon link is against their rules, and that they'll debit away any fees they give you from those products.
Have fun pitching the products...

So I've switched PaulaNealMooney.com from redirecting to this blog, and loaded up WordPress on it, and have started blogging separately over there.
Since PaulaNealMooney.com has been linked to and is already being crawled regularly by Google, I figured I might as well build that puppy up and SEO that mug -- since most of my SEO efforts on this penalized blog are for naught.
I'm not ditching the paulamooney.blogspot.com URL -- it still has a great Alexa rank and PR of 3 from Google, so it's still good for blogging tips and paid postings -- but not SEO'd posts.
The "big Googe" ranks them too low in the SERPs.
The PaulaNealMooney.com will be a hodgepodge of stuff like my complete infatuation with the song "Fence Riders" by Jimmy Needham I heard last night and keep playing over and over again from his MySpace page.

PageRank Dropped Again - Google Dropped my PR to 3, ProBlogger and John Chow to 4 ... Have you dropped again too?
My pagerank already went from a 5 to a 4, now it's a 3 -- but Google already penalized this site so that I no longer rank for "Paula Mooney" or "blogger salaries" or other stuff.
Oh well, it just gives me more time and inclination to reposition myself and focus on my other websites.
But it turns out I'm far from alone in Google's latest PageRank dropping nightmare. Maybe it's not really about paid links at all -- or more precisely, maybe it ALL about paid links and text-link-ads and PPP and more.
Maybe Google thought they gave too much power to sites with higher PRs, and all the advertising revenue that garners them, so this might be a day of equalizing.
How'd I Find Out About Google's Latest PageRank Drop?
Daniel over at Daily Blog Tips wrote another great post about all these major sites that Google has dropped their PageRanks again (I told him he could add John Chow to his list, who has dropped from PR 6 to 5 to 4):
- Engadget (from 7 to 5)
- AutoBlog (from 6 to 4)
- Problogger (from 6 to 4)
- Copyblogger (from 6 to 4)
- Search Engine Journal (from 7 to 4)
- Quick Online Tips (from 6 to 3)
- Search Engine Roundtable (from 7 to 4)
- Blog Herald (from 6 to 4)
- Weblog Tools Collection (from 6 to 4)
- JohnTP (from 6 to 4)
- Washington Post (from 7 to 5)
- Forbes.com (from 7 to 5)
- SFGate.com (from 7 to 5)
- Sun Times (from 7 to 5)
- New Scientist (from 7 to 5)
Looks like other folks are feeling the Google Pagerank dropping pinch, or just chatting about PR:

Everyone's all buzzed-up about the I Am Legend 2 movie trailer that's hit the net overnight. (Just click the Will Smith pic to view it.)
And what an amazing movie "I Am Legend" appears to be. Just imagine being the last person on earth -- or at least thinking you are the last person on earth, and dealing with your grief and fear and horniness without killing yourself.
The release date of "I Am Legend" is December 14th, so that means the "I Am Legend" DVD will probably emerge around mid-Spring 2008 or so, maybe earlier or later.
And just imagine if you could watch that movie in a comfy viewing room with home theater seating and surround-sound and such.
How awesome would that be? Of course, it'd be fun with friends and food around.
Guys especially like that sort of stuff. The noise that makes you believe you're actually experiencing the crazy, daring adventures the people in the movie are going thru.

Field Negro LA Times Attorney Wayne Bennett Article - Agnostic? Don't count on it, my blogging brotha man...
Well blow me over with a bushel of cotton. (All respect to folks like my Daddy Elmer (late grandfather) and GranRuby (late grandmother) who actually worked those fields from "cain't see to cain't see" (before dawn till after dawn) -- and women like my grandmother who actually went into labor with one of her four kids in those fields, its soil richly tilled by their rugged hands -- labor that blest me with a college education at the HBCU Florida A & M University decades later...)
Thanks to GetReligion.org for hipping me to the Field Negro LA Times piece, who points out an interesting take on Wayne Bennett's viewpoint, leading me to ask myself:
It matters not. I know in Whose vineyard I toil...
And you know I'm praying in Jesus' Name alone for a serious Damascus Road experience to use the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, so-called-but-not-for-long-agnostic Wayne Bennett back to his roots of Love.
Be blessed, brotha.

There was a couple deep in debt, and Suze Orman prescribed the woman get a job at Starbucks, because Orman said that Starbucks' health insurance benefits are available to even part-time employees who work at least 90 days at the coffee giant.
In this article with Starbucks' CEO about their health insurance benefits, it states:
"Starbucks provides health insurance for all employees working 20 hours a week and up."
But Starbucks' employees speak here of having a hard time getting 20 hours per week to get their health benefits, in some instances.
Either way, any company that pays its employees full health benefits for part-time status is good in my book.

The Fried Coke recipe balls have been revealed here. (Is that the official recipe?)
I wrote about searching for the Fried Coke recipe balls (that's another version)nearly a year ago, and now today Fried Coke is all the rage again for some reason.
As if we haven't battered and deep-fried enough stuff under the sun, now comes deep Fried coke. But how on earth do you deep fry a liquid?
Turns out you don't, according an original article published in 2006 that only alluded to the deep fried Coke recipe without giving too many particulars, calling them "gooey Coke-battered nuggets topped with cola syrup."
Now the deep fried phenomenon has spread and Yahoo is abuzz with searches for "deep fried coke recipe" or just plain ol' "deep fried coke." Read more about Fried Coke balls here...

That was my choice this morning, a Thursday.
I'd just hit the health club on Tuesday, so it's not like it's been forever since I worked out -- but after watching Oprah talk about her sluggish thyroid and that New-Agey but wonderful author Dr. Christine Northrup talk about how important it is for us giving-it-all-to-our-families-women to exercise, I thought about being a gym rat today.
But alas, all my website children were calling me louder than the treadmill today. I could feel the Bill Cosby's appearance on Oprah story needing tending.

CHECK OUT HOW MUCH MONEY BLOGGERS REALLY MAKE ONLINE!
by Paula Neal Mooney
My blog's money-making-money-makers are better this month at a total of $1,111.04 -- thank You, Father -- than the previous month's take of $736.02 in blog money making.
So I need to really read up on LinkWorth money making, because other bloggers have made money thru them, but I haven't taken the time to really get on there and research them yet.
How this money-making blog make money on the internet?
Mostly from my niche TV site -- so that's my money-making blog advice in a nutshell:
Find a niche topic that's in high demand, pray, pray, pray and write well and often that provides a service to folks (especially a FREE service), load it up with ads, and they'll come-a-clickin'!

You may have already heard from Media Takeout the uproar this flier caused, soliciting light-skinned women to come to a party in Detroit for free.
With a pic of a light-skinned black woman on the flier, and "light skinned women & all Libra's free entry all night" on the bottom of the image, this "light skin" bash harkens back to the days when we used to give each other the brown-paper bag test.
That's during the era when blacks stood humiliating at the door of a party and had to pass either one or all of three tests I've heard of:
- Stick your arm in a brown paper bag -- if you were lighter than the bag, you were in.
- If your veins showed thru your skin -- you were in.
- If a fine-toothed comb could pass easily thru your hair -- you were in.
The Light-Skinned, Dark-Skinned Thing...
...has been around for ages, ever since there were house vs. field folks. Of course the politically correct thing to say here is that we've gotta get beyond the mentality that says lighter is better.
And it's true. We must look upon the heart and not upon the skin.
I admit my baser side relishes the misguided logic that says lighter skin is better and any surface-level favor that's afforded me, but that all flies out the window when placed up against the type of bright-blonde haired beauty I saw walking out of my health club yesterday.
The logic is junk, and we must eschew it and take care of whatever skin God gave us. ORIKI Cosmeceuticals has a product line that caters to olive skin tones -- though I don't see any sistahs as chocolate-toned as this one on the site.
It's funny that the skin tone we're considered to be is all relative -- white people and my multi-racial friend said I'm obviously dark-skinned, while black people usually say I'm light skinned.
And though I admit to using skin-lightening products (I haven't tried the expensive stuff yet, only the stuff from the grocery store that evens out my skin tone), I know our color complex issues run way past the melanin.
My one "light-skinned" black friend noted that light-skinned black women tend to hang together. A darker-skinned good friend and I talk about skin tone issues a lot -- and how she got teased and called "white girl" by other blacks because of the "proper" way she speaks.
So there's always something to envy in each other and discuss. There will always be some fleshly thing held up as the standard of beauty during whatever century we live in. The ironic thing is, none of it will matter on the other side...

ShoppingAds is a new Cost Per Click the techies are writing reviews about, and I want to see if these ads that people only have to click on will make us more money than AuctionAds did.
This guy, in his ShoppingAds review thinks it may spell the death of AuctionAds, which is fine by me, because you'll see that I made nearly nothing with the cost-per-action model of AuctionAds when I post up my monthly income later today -- Lord willing.
ShoppingAds.com Reviews? Beta Invitation Code?
If you were already an AuctionAds.com user, you should already have an email with the ShoppingAds invitation code to their beta program in your email inbox. So sign up and write up those ShoppingAds.com reviews and let me know how much money you're making -- or not!
Here's the email I received this morning containing the ShoppingAds invitation code below:

Chocolate Rain Ringtone Free Download -- Verizon Commercial, Lynn From Girlfriends CWTV Show Make Ring Tone Hot to Want to Buy, But Do We Get It?
How old was that college student by the by?
And how old is Persia White's character?
Anyway, I don't agree with that -- even though he showed her his ID before they got busy -- today I kept thinking of R. Kelly's lyrics "Show me some ID before I get knee-deep...I don't see nothing wrong with a little Bump 'n' Grind" -- I'll bet you my former Kenwood Academy High School alum sees something wrong with it now!
But I still hope the best for R. Kelly, and that he's learned his lesson as we all do. I used to blast that Trade in My Life song in my old apartment -- he was taking me to church thru music.
While hunting around for the free Chocolate Rain ringtone that you can listen to here, I came across this tripped out unaired Verizon commercial of some thugged-out portrayal of black guys with a Chocolate Rain ringtone:
"Doesn't that bother you?" my husband just asked me as I showed him the Verizon Chocolate Rain commercial and chuckled.
"It's just stupid...that's why they're not airing it."
"The fact that they would even make it," he said.
Stupid Verizon Chocolate Rain ringtone commercial.
But the stupidest thing of all to me is that people are interpreting the Chocolate Rain ringtone and song as some catchy, light, frothy, campy diddy that means nothing.
Reading the Chocolate Rain lyrics and listening to the sadness behind the song, we see that it's anything but happy...

YBF Blog - Young Black Fabulous Blogspot .Com Gossip Website Hard to Find, But Still Breaking the News Like Rhymes With Snitch, Who Makes No Money
YBF.com is not the Young Black and Fabulous blog that used to be on a blogspot.com address.
No, the real Young, Black and Fabulous .com can be found at TheYBF.com -- that's because cyber-squatters realize the importance of all the Young, Black and Fabulous traffic that that site gets.
Even TMZ.com -- TMZ!!!! -- linked to YBF's piece about Lauryn Hill being pregnant with her 5th child by a Marley man (hope it's true -- care for me, care for me, said you'd care for me...)
At least the crazy-popular site Young, Black and Fabulous is monetized.
Rhymes With Snitch (who has a Google PageRank of 6 -- and also got a link from TMZ.com when he or she -- I think it's a she -- broke the El Debarge story) is one of those webmasters that works hard but makes no money off their site from what I can see!
I've emailed the Rhymes With Snitch lady to tell her to enable her post pages so that at least she'd have individual URLs, but she hasn't.
It's not that I think the webmaster is rich and doesn't want to make money.
I believe the Rhymes With Snitch writer honestly probably don't know how to take advantage of Google Adsense ads and such to monetize all their traffic.
Maybe I'm wrong. And I know money isn't everything. Some people actually write for the fun (or poison pen) of it all...
Some people want to remain anonymous, and are afraid (rightly so) that their ads could get them found out somehow and Dooced.
But just imagine. The Rhymes With Snitch blogger probably has missed out on $50k worth of ad revenue since she began blogging.
by Paula Neal Mooney
Whenever I visit a website, I check out the design and everything thru my webmaster's eyes. I can't help it.
So the first time I visited MakeOverSolutions.com, with its tons and tons of celebrity hairstyle pics of stars like Halle Berry -- organized by year, no less -- I thought to myself: Somebody worked hard on this website...
That's because I know just how long it takes to upload that many pics and tag them correctly by year and such.
Everything MakeOverSolutions.com has done, I want to figure out how to do:
- Create options that let people log in after signing up with either a free registration (which is what I did, but they also offer paid registrations for 3-month and longer options.)
- Allow people to upload their pics
- Create product reviews posted by their users
- Have a great website design that's clean and easy to follow
I plan to "make over" my website creation thinking into learning how to create a clean design that allows users to login and create their own content that helps each other out -- and helps me to bring in the ad revenue from those slick "Ads by Glam" that I see all the nicer websites like TheYBF.com enjoy.
Time to make over my HTML and CSS skills...
