Beyonce's Master Cleanser Diet Fast...Is it Safe?
5:24 PM Written by Paula Neal Mooney

I would be remiss not to first mention a great new book I just finished reading called The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong?
I believe The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong?
While I have fasted here and there to try and get closer to God, if you're fasting for weight loss reasons, I'd recommend first buying and trying The Overfed Head theory.
The guy lost 160 lbs. and has kept it off since 1998.
Plus, he writes about how dramatic weight loss from some diets is harmful because you regain it all back and then some.
Please read The Overfed Head first if you're considering other things.
It makes sense.

Beautiful Beyonce appeared on a recent Oprah show telling the world how Beyonce lost 20 pounds with a "Master Cleanser" diet fast.
Beyonce went on this 14-day fast -- a liquid diet, I guess, that includes vegetables -- in order to slim down for Dreamgirls.
I remember Beyonce talking about this fast before, but I didn't know the "Master Cleanser" name till now. Of course, immediately I thought about doing it myself, especially if I want to drop weight fast if I get that Wife Swap gig.
But, is it safe? Would I drop weight and then gain more back later?
I've done a 3-day tea with honey fast before, for spiritual reasons. Maybe it's time for another. Especially after that yummy feast I had yesterday! Master Cleanser users, let me know...

its very safe i've done it 3 times once for 5 days once for 3 and once for 7. Frist thing get the book and be very careful about coming off the fast dont just eat everything in sight. You would'nt gain all the weight right back but if you dont take care of yourself you will. This is a good fast if you plan on changing your habits of eating. It helps clean you so that its easier to change your ways. But frist you have to want to change your habits not just lose weight fast.

Good, thanks. That gives me more motivation to do it, and to do it correctly.

Thanks, caliliy. What's your blog address? I clicked on your name and just got the book cover pic.
Yeah, I haven't bought the Master Cleanser yet. (Still waiting on all my ad and affiliate revenue to kick in.) But I have been drinking the protein powder with fresh fruit and milk and honey shakes that Liz from Associated Content recommended...that is, when I'm not pigging out late at night on Fritos and such.
So the Master Cleanser made you really sick? Did you eat anything with it? I've heard you're supposed to go into a fast gradually, like switch into veggies and such days before instead of going cold turkey.
Any other Master Cleanser users out there got any insight? I don't want to get sick off this thing...

Hi, I just started the lemonade diet and am on day 3. No problems so far and I've lost 4 pounds already.

I did my first "cleanse" in September for 12 days and lost (and kept off) 15 lbs. On about day 3 or 4 I felt really yucky, which I attribute to the toxins working their way out of my body & caffeine withdrawal from cutting out coffee (I took Excedrin just that one day for the headache). After that, I felt energized, well rested, and was never hungry ... which are all miraculous for me.
I honestly did not eat ANYTHING during those 12 days. I only drank 8-10 servings of the "MC" (careful with the cayenne ... it's powerful stuff) and several glasses of water. Just before bed I'd have a small glass of the "Smooth Moves" tea to ... uh ... "move" things along in the morning. (I hate the tea, so I plug my nose and chug it down in big gulps.)
The 1st day off the cleanse is all OJ (with pulp & not from concentrate) and water. The 2nd day off starts with OJ, then you make a vegetable soup in the afternoon and that replaces your meals until the afternoon of the 3rd day. Then have a fresh salad for dinner on the 3rd evening. After that, you can resume normal food intake ... but hopefully after the cleanse you have a new appreciation for nutrition and have a desire to make fresh, healthy choices.
Being on the cleanse helped me pay so much more attention to my body and the effects my diet has on my total well-being. I’ve always “known” it ... but didn’t really buy into the correlation until I could see and feel it. I also found a major benefit/perk was that my potion control was so much better after being on the cleanse, so even if I had a little of something, that was plenty and I didn’t feel deprived.
UPDATE: Yesterday was day 10 on the cleanse again, so today I am drinking the OJ. So far I have lost another 10 lbs and am feeling great! I was excited to buy the veggies for tomorrow’s soup and am looking forward going out for a delicious cobb salad for dinner in a couple days.
As with everything ... be safe & be healthy!

By the way ... I didn't buy the "Master Cleanse Kit" ... I bought the organic lemons & tea at the local CoOp and the Grade B Maple Syrup from a local health foods store. You need plenty so ask for the 64 oz. jug of maple if they have it!

Did anyone exercise while on the fast? Today is my first day and I will begin my regular exercise in about 4 days.

I'm sorry I still haven't purchased Beyonce's Master Cleanser Diet yet...so I can't delve deeply into the answers.
But people have questions about coming off the Master Cleanser Diet. Any help out there?
Whenever I've come off a fast in the past, I don't know that I've always done it slowly, but I've read that it's better to come off fasts little by little instead of gorging ourselves.

I'm currently on Day 6 of the Master Cleanser diet. This is my second time doing it and my first experience lasted 10 days. I lost just over 15lbs and kept it off. I came off of it with orange juice and then moved to vegetable soup the second day before resuming regular eating on the third day after the clease. Day's 3 and 4 are the hardest because the body is really starting to shake out the toxins. I'm keeping a daily diary of my current fast which I expect to last another 10 days - only four more days to go after today! You can read my daily entries on my blog beginning the week of February 7, 2007 at
www.myspace.com/jasonleecampbell
Good luck with the fast if you choose to do it, but make sure you follow it carefully and see it through if you start it.

Thank you so much for letting me know about this, Jason.
Sometimes I've eaten like a pig when coming off fasts, so I want to make sure if I do this one that I do it correctly.
Take care,
Paula

Hey Paula, Nice discussion you've got going on over here about Master Cleanse. I'm going to post the link in my "Citations" section. I'm keeping this tab open to remind me to come back and check out your site in great depth. When you can drop by http://master-cleanse.info and share your before, during and/or after experience with the Master Cleanse aka Lemonade Diet. I did it a year ago and had great time. What's this about a "wife swap" you're gearing up for? I'll defintely have to come back and read more closely! All the best, Nia.

Thanks, Nia.
Can you believe I still haven't purchased this thing? But yesterday at the health club I really got a strong urge to go on the Master Cleanse fast, and judging from the feedback I've received, it seems safe from the manner in which people are using it.
Yeah, a Wife Swap producer contacted me and gave me her info and the specifics, but I left her messages and never heard back from her.
Guess it wasn't meant to be...
Thanks for the links and info!

Is there an age limit for this? also is it safe to work out during the cleanse? and I've done it once before and felt something moving around in my stomach when I lay in bed (on the 3rd day) I had lost 5 lbs. What was moving around in there? and is it safe to do it again.

Sorry -- I still haven't done this fast myself.
I've kind of done a homemade version of it, mixing up cayenne pepper with honey instead of maple syrup.
It made me a little nauseated, so I switched over to lemon water for my spiritual fast.
I only did one day that time, though.
The other times, the Lord granted me grace to do a honey tea with lemon fast for three days.
Hopefully, the other Master Cleanser users will reply soon.
Have you guys experienced this?

I used the mix of 3quarts of water, 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup pure maple syrup and 1 tsp cayenne pepper and that worked great for me. I did the fast for ten days and lost 10 pounds and the 11th and 12th day did light soups and orange juice. I have been able to keep the weight off. I did mild exercises throughout, but be careful not too much exercise because over doing your body when it is running off of little calories can be dangerous!

I just finished the cleanse 2 days ago. The first day off the cleanse I drank the lemonade and some fresh squeezed OJ up until about 4pm. For dinner I had the vegetable soup. I even ate part of a baguette the first night. Today I feel great. I had juice for breakfast and more vegetable soup. For dinner I plan on making a pasta dish after my workout. I am taking probiotics though, so that may be helping.

hello, the master cleanser diet plan is a liquid diet so it does make you loose weight FAST... the fat in your body is accumulated over many years, so an 'overnight' solution might not be a good idea.. there is no medical evidence that your body is flushing out the toxins.. this diet, like every other fasting diet may affect you internal organs and your body's metabolism... just a heads up everybody... thanks
