Amazon MP3 Affiliate / Referral Program -- A new way to make money on the web ... I hope

by Paula Neal Mooney Looking for the Amazon MP3 affiliate / referral program ? So am I. Recently Amazon MP3 Beta was announced, where folks who click on an affiliate / referral link like this one can download music online -- and affiliate marketers online like me would get a cut of the money they pay Amazon -- for all our hard work in telling people about it. I already like Amazon's affiliate program a lot -- especially since they just deposited $55.75 in my checking account today. I've discovered that people like downloading full TV episodes online thru my television site -- amazingly even when I lead them to the free full episode on the network TV's site to watch for no cost, some will still opt to buy individual TV episodes for around 2 bucks a pop -- and that trend is only going to continue. (If you sign up for Amazon Associates free affiliate / referral program and start hawking their wares, you get a flat 10% payout of everything they download thru Amazon Unbox.) D...

I was afraid you'd hit me if I'd spoken up...

by Paula Neal Mooney I was afraid of your alcohol breath I was afraid of your complete disregard for me I was afraid of your temper I was afraid of handles being flown off I was afraid of holes being punched into walls I was afraid of your tes...tos...te...rone... ...I was afraid for my own bones... There's a reason why "Sympathetic Character" off her Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie CD is my second-favorite Alanis Morissette song. It comes in hard on the tail of "You Oughta Know," the song that put Alanis on the map when she blazed her trail in the world releasing Jagged Little Pill . I've been thru that! Alanis' lyrics ring so true to me -- as do they to many of her other fans. I, too, have had a "sympathetic character" or two in my life. Because of former maltreatment, I grew to hate anger being directed at me. My coping skills included "making nice" and holding back my true feelings as a means to protect "my own bones....

Isaiah Washington Wins Award: When Blacks Stick Together

by Paula Neal Mooney This past week I caught Isaiah Washington as he accepted his Best Actor in a Television Drama kudos at the 38th Annual NAACP Image Awards. Despite all the things I've read about his nasty temper -- even purportedly displayed against his own people well before the T.R. Knight name-calling explosion -- I felt happy as Isaiah Washington rose and humbly took his statue. He needed it. At a time when he must've felt the whole world against him, Isaiah Washington had to feel good being accepted by his folks. Home again. Where you can mess up and still be loved. Of course, this blacks-sticking-together-no-matter-what kind of thinking can be really silly at times. Like when comedian Damon Wayans said of O.J. Simpson: "My blackness won't let me believe he did it." What???? Over the top reverse racism like that doesn't take into account that two people died horribly. Where's your compassion for the murder victims , I always ask. What if Nico...

Thoughts of killing myself...

by Paula Neal Mooney I held the bottle of painkillers in my palm and studied them. It had been a mere month or so since my pretty baby girl was pulled into the world. I no longer awoke writhing with the pain that twisted me awake if I'd gone too long without taking a pill. I no longer needed them, this I knew. Maybe I should keep them , I thought, just in case . That's when a sinister idea outside of my own head came to me, asking beguilingly: "Why don't you just take the whole bottle?" Recognizing the voice of the father of lies, the lord of the air, I tossed the bottle in the trash. Death, be not proud... Thoughts of the grim reaper can't help but emerge as I ponder the blog of my fourth respondent to grab my olive branch of link love , Zaki Yamani . There's something so tender and endearing about Zaki Yamani, a chemical engineer, husband and father. His blog, titled Zaki Yamani World , is plush with order and neatness. It gives me the warm fuzzies. He ...

Jason, Kelly and a red drop-top Ferrari 348 Spider...

by Paula Neal Mooney Wow, now here's a blog! The second person to respond to my yearnings for some link love was Jason Neuman . Author of Ja Kel Daily , Jason sent me this link from his blog to mine. Even though Jason didn't tell me what he loves or hates about my blog -- hint, hint -- I still reviewed his: There are so many things I love about Ja Kel Daily that I could turn into a fan stalker: * I love when guys author blogs with their wives, and don't pretend to be single whilst on the hunt for chicks on the web * And this pic of Jason with his British wife Kelly is a serious winner... * ...'cause I'm a hot car freak and love this Ferrari pic -- even if it is a rental. (A convertible champagne-colored Jaguar XK8 used to be my dream car.) * Ja Kel Daily looks just like John Chow's blog, and they've got a cool set-up, with Jason's full byline and his Google Adsense wrapped nicely around his posts. He's even got his Google Adsense flushed in nicely ...

It's kinda disconcerting to see your own face on someone's blog...

by Paula Neal Mooney But I asked for it. People responded when I asked my readers: Want Some Link Love? The first was Markk, who authors at least three blogs: 1 - WiredHound 2 - Common Sense with Markk 3 - The Next Post He wrote up this post about me on The Next Post and gave some good and honest feedback on what he thought about my blog. I'm gonna incorporate some of his advice in coming weeks. So here's my review of The Next Post in return... I like: The Next Post has a nice, clean look. And that banner at the top advertising Asian interests is so different and unique, it catches my attention every time I visit his blog. Of course I love that Markk has email sign-up boxes prominently displayed on his blog. I signed up right away. There are so many techie good things to check into on his sidebar, I will be back often. Dislike: This is a personal pet peeve of mine, but I really don't like it when blog authors don't load their pics in their profile. I just feel closer t...

3 Lbs Cast Pic...I'm still a real journalist!

The other night I blogged about 3 Lbs , a new CBS medical drama starring Stanley Tucci that premieres today on CBS.com and Tuesday, November 14, for those still watching TV shows on TV. I was kind of under the gun to get that related piece published, but whilst writing it I emailed Nancy Eichenbaum , the lovely lady listed as my photo contact on the official CBS documentation I received. So nice Nancy emailed me this pic of the 3 Lbs . crew lickedty split, but just after I posted my other blog post. Anyway, here it is, a living color 3 Lbs cast photo. They look good, especially that Tucci , I must say again. And since I don't have Photoshop yet (I'm reliant upon the lovely ACDSee photo editor, which provides tons of blessed free trials to me) I can't find the "File info" credit Nancy pointed me to. I guess "Photo Courtesy of CBS" must do for now. From left to right we have: Armando Riesco , the pretty British-sounding Indira Varma , Stan the Man ...

I am a real live journalist...at last!

It's official. I am a real live journalist! Yay! Praise the Lord and pass the DVDs, please... Yesterday I received a FedEx package (Yes, for me! Not Cavs tickets for my hubby for once!) from my cool-as-beans editor Mike from Associated Content . "The People's Media Company," my husband, Chris, repeated as he checked out my booty -- of media stuff, this time. The huge envelope contained not only a big Associated Content cup that'll ensure I'm up on my water intake, but also a small squishy stress ball-type brain and an advanced DVD copy of 3 Lbs , a new medical drama -- the title refers to the weight of the adult brain -- from CBS starring Stanley Tucci as a hot neurosurgeon. Since 3 Lbs doesn't premiere on CBS until a week from today -- with a full preview on CBS.com this Thursday -- I felt a surge of genuine reporter glee getting a chance to check out this intriguing drama well before the rest of the world. I got the sense that Mike needed this reviewed...
