Kate Walsh's Grey's Anatomy Spin-off Will Attract Millions

by Paula Neal Mooney There's something special about Kate Walsh. Special enough to spin Kate Walsh off from Grey's Anatomy into her own pilot and series. Fans of Grey's Anatomy already know the 39-year-old, 5'10" blue-eyed Californian who dyes her blonde hair red. Kate Walsh strolled onto the Grey's Anatomy scene decked out in an all-designer black suit and introduced herself to Ellen Pompeo's character by saying: "You must be the woman who's sleeping with my husband." But since then the once "adulterous spawn of Satan" has beguiled viewers. Emerging as Patrick Dempsey's cheating wife who left Manhattan and relocated to Seattle to try and reclaim her marriage, Kate Walsh's character was initially vilified. Grafting into Grey’s Anatomy Folks eventually softened on Kate's Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, as the beauty ditched salmon scrubs in favor of a dark blue uniform that signaled Walsh's placement as a permane...

Bill Maher's New Black Girlfriend?

by Paula Neal Mooney I woke up thinking about Bill Maher . Perhaps this is because just a few hours before I went to bed, I was arguing with 51-year-old Bill Maher . Calm down, people. I'm not his latest piece of carmel arm candy. Bill Maher was once again pontificating on his new season of Real Time With Bill Maher this weekend. "I think all religions are crazy," said Maher, dogging out Mormons whilst encircling both his ears with his pointers. "That's a religion!" I argued back. "Believing in nothing is its own religion!" My hubby bristled while I ranted quietly, "This is exactly what Ann Coulter writes about in Godless: The Church of Liberalism !" (Ann Coulter, by the way, recently gave a suprising blurb to liberal writer and genius Michael Eric Dyson for his new Debating Race book. Maybe she's trying to quell the whole Kwanzaa mess . Maybe I am, too.) But back to Bill Maher. Like Prince sang, "I -- how you say? -- I wonder ...

Anna Nicole Smith: Cause of Death?

by Paula Neal Mooney "Anna Nicole Smith Dead ," read the headline that just made me gasp. I poked around several news stories to confirm that Anna Nicole Smith has died at the young age of 39. Now I can't help but wonder what was the cause of death of Anna Nicole, the "blonde bombshell" whom no doubt will forever draw endless comparisons to another tragically famous blonde who lived her life "like a candle in the wind" -- Marilyn Monroe. Edwina Johnson, Broward County Medical Examiner's Office chief investigator, has said that Anna Nicole's cause of death is under investigation and that an autopsy will be performed tomorrow. I'll bet almost anything that Anna Nicole's autopsy report will reflect drugs in Anna Nicole's system as the cause of death. I've been watching Anna Nicole on ET lately and she seemed dead already -- under the influence of some kind of potent painkillers. So sad. But I'll always remember Anna Nicole...

Tyra to Wear 'Fat' Swimsuit and Slam Critics

by Paula Neal Mooney TMZ and Juicy-News are reporting Tyra Banks' plan to answer her fat critics by wearing a swimsuit on the Tyra Banks Show tomorrow. Not just any swimsuit , but the self-same swimsuit that paparazzi caught her lolling around the Australian surf wearing looking, as some anorexic-inducing critics claim, so much larger than her Swimsuit Illustrated days. It's the same one-piece swimsuit that bloggers and writers quickly pounced on and attacked Tyra with headlines like these (and we wonder why supermodels are dying from starving themselves, all the while the new size double-zero is all the rage...just waiting on the minus one, two and three sizes): "THIGH-RA BANKS!" "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP WADDLE!" "TYRA PORK CHOPS!" "TYRA TOPS 200LBS!" "Tyra Banks shows the world why she retired from the runway" Headlines like that are just rude, crude, and not worth the pixels they are written with. And I for one am glad Tyra...

Toni Braxton Breaks Down and Cries on The View Over Autistic Son

by Paula Neal Mooney Today was an amazing episode of The View , with the whole show dedicated to issues of autism. Toni Braxton co-hosted with the other women, but she wasn't discussing her latest Las Vegas appearance, nor some scandalous barely-there dress. Toni Braxton spoke of her youngest son, Diezel, 3, and his recent diagnosis of autism. And like any mother reeling from the shock of an only 4-month-old diagnosis, Toni Braxton broke down and cried when describing the symptoms that clued her in that something was wrong. "I'm sorry," Toni Braxton wept, dropping her face into her palms. "I get all emotional." "That's okay," Rosie comforted. I, too, wept along with Toni Braxton , empathizing with the raw and real pain a parent can feel when coming to the realization that their child might not be "normal" in the eyes of the world. Thankfully, there were other parents of autistic children on The View that shared how they deal with au...

Justin Chambers Has a Black Wife Named Keisha

by Paula Neal Mooney Again I was catching up with my TiVo'd shows whilst putting teeny-tiny microbraids in my hair and was caught by surprise when The View interviewed Grey's Anatomy hottie Justin Chambers, and they flashed a picture of his wife, Keisha, on the screen. Is she black? I asked myself, cause no one else was asking. Sure I knew all about Justin Chambers and his five kids, but I naturally assumed his wife would be a beautiful blonde named Becky or something, not a beautiful black woman named Keisha Chambers . Justin Chambers has a black wife . Wow. There, I said it. Or wrote it, actually. I wrote the thing that many folks are skirting around on the message boards and avoiding writing. They seem to be avoiding a mention of the interracial factor like the black plague. (Yes, I'm trying to work the words "Justin Chambers" and "black wife" into this post as many times as editorially possible.) "She's not what I expected," is t...

Could You Survive in the Wild Alone? Learn from SurvivorMan Les Stroud

by Paula Neal Mooney I caught this dude Les Stroud -- aka SurvivorMan -- on The View yesterday, and I'm still thinking about him this morning so you know that's my cue to blog about him. Les Stroud hosts the Discovery Channel show called SurvivorMan , which tracks Stroud's survival in perilous locations with no food and water. SurvivorMan must do just that -- survive on his own, as a solo man. No fawning, background crew handing him KitKats. No paramedics on hand. Les Stroud is the real deal, no reality show fake is he. He has people drop him off in crazy and remote places and tells them to come pick him up after seven days. Seven days. Just SurvivorMan and his camera to film how he's getting along: making a fire out of an old gas can and its fumes, eating a scorpion after removing the stinger, or using his SurvivorMan mouth to pull the needle-like point off the top of a plant to reveal -- voila! -- the strong-as-hell thread attached. Who knew? I've read that...

The View May Hire Sherri Shepherd

by Paula Neal Mooney Just when I was about to write an open blog post to Barbara Walters begging old Babs to hire comedienne Sherri Shepherd for a permanent gig on The View , I caught this little tidbit on Canada.com Canada.com claims that a deal is already being worked out to make Sherri Shepherd a permanent replacement for Star Jones' empty spot on The View . I still sent emails to Barbara Walters , Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (It's no wonder why Rosie's email option is missing -- all that negative feedback about her Asian news reporter impersonations must've killed their servers.) I begged the ladies to make Sherri Shepherd the "token" View lady. (No, I didn't really say that...) Anyway, if you haven't caught Sherri Shepherd on The View lately, you've missed a real treat. Not only has Sherri Shepherd been hilarious, Sherri's regaled The View's viewers with her tales of woe: Shepherd recently caught her husband, Jeff Tarp...

Beyonce Refuses to Rush Jay-Z into Marriage and Fatherhood...

by Paula Neal Mooney Beyonce was interviewed in the January 2007 issue of InStyle magazine -- thanks for the heads-up PopSugar.com! Love you guys even though you never responded to my interview requests :-( -- and had some interesting read-between-the-lines quotes about marriage, motherhood and Jay-Z. But more about that later. The thing that stuck with me was Beyonce's response to the weirdest thing in her fridge: "These little Soy Dream ice-cream sandwiches, " Beyonce quipped, saying that the Soy Dream ice-cream sandwiches were "so good, I eat one every night." Hmmm ...my little blogging mind thought...the way folks are lining up ordering the Master Cleanser diet fast that helped Beyonce shed 20 pounds for Dreamgirls (which I STILL want to undertake as soon as the new year comes), I'm sure they'll be chomping at the bit (literally) to find these Soy Dream ice-cream sandwiches. No easy feat, turns out. Googling "Soy Dream Ice Cream Sandwiche...

Halle Berry CD Rumors May be a Hoax...

by Paula Neal Mooney I've been trying all day to write this post about Halle Berry and her supposed new music CD . I don't know if it's me or Blogger Beta, but I was having some serious Blogger Beta withdrawals. (Anyone else out there having Blogger Beta problems? They aren't beta anymore, Blogger has dropped the Beta last night actually, and that may be part of the reason I couldn't get on. Anyway, if you halt the logon page that gets stuck and then click the other Blogger logon prompts it works.) At least I got to write about my findings about Halle Berry and her supposed new music CD over on Associated Content. So check out what I found out about Halle Berry and the CD that probably wasn't... Bookmark http://www.paulamooney.blogspot.com/ and drop back in to see what I'm up to next. Blessings and love, Paula Tags: halle , berry , cd , music , hoax , internet , rumor , blogger , beta , down , logon , problems

Duke Rape Accuser Gives Birth to a Baby Girl...

Duke Rape Accuser Gives Birth to a Baby Girl... and Adds a Whole New Twist to a Case that has Rocked the Nation by Paula Neal Mooney Here's the thing about the Duke rape case accuser reportedly giving birth to a baby girl tonight: It only serves to add more suspicion to a rape case that looks like it's falling apart. According to the "Duke 3" defense attorneys, DNA found on the woman hired as a stripper that night belonged to several males -- none of them the Duke lacrosse team trio on trial. And now the Duke rape accuser has given birth to a new baby girl exactly nine months to the day that she told police she was raped. As a black woman, I feel this pressure across the nation to side with her, but just like I refused to believe that O.J. Simpson was innocent of murder, I refuse to believe that these Duke boys are guilty of rape. Guilty of hiring a stripper, yes, something they probably might not do again. The whole thing smacks of ugly, icky racial and socioeco...
