Since the day I first heard about Juanita Bynum being attacked by her husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks , many Christians have been talking and dissecting the case and asking ourselves: Why? Anyway, I'm glad to hear that Juanita Bynum went on TBN last night to speak out after her attack. This video, as you can see, is a news report about Juanita Bynum speaking on TBN , but not the actual Juanita Bynum TBN video itself. I've searched TBN - Trinity Broadcasting Network's site for Juanita Bynum speaking and video footage , but don't see it loaded yet. (I haven't been this excited to blog about a video before it becomes nationwide news since Kramer said the N-word.) Anyway, the deer jumping over (or is it behind?) a motorcycle video adventure that left everyone alive to tell the tale -- or upload the video, as it were -- is truly a hedge of protection...if it's real. by Paula Neal Mooney By now nearly everybody has heard the plight of Genarlow Wilson , a 17-year-old honor student who should've been acing his SATs the day he was arrested on charges of rape, stemming from consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl as well as intercourse with another girl. And now David McDade has released the videotape of Genarlow Wilson receiving oral sex at a party, claiming he was required to by law. The unfairness of Genarlow Wilson's 10-year sentence even has Barack Obama championing his cause. Heck, I just might vote for that man yet... I believe rape is wrong. Abrams' new movie, called Cloverfield , Bad Robot or the new Godzilla movie is causing a big stir ever since sneak previews of the Cloverfield , Bad Robot or new Godzilla movie trailer were shown recently prior to Transformers . Watching video clips of J. J. Abrams' untitled movie project temporarily dubbed Cloverfield , the film does have a freaky Blair Witch kind of feel, with the hand-held camera shots making the reality of it all feel so immediate -- as if it could easily happen to us. Let it Go is a highly-personal song off Kirk Franklin's Hero CD, which I seriously am going to buy now. Kirk ain't no faking church boy! by Paula Neal Mooney I just watched this amazing "A Girl Like Me" video clip of the award-winning documentary by Kiri Davis , a 17-year-old New York high school student. (Thanks, dreah , for the heads up.) Kiri Davis conducted a modern-day "doll study" wherein she asked black children to choose between the black and white dolls. Most of them selected the white dolls. But skin bleaching tales caught my ear the most. One black woman spoke of friends who actually pour bleach in their baths in sad attempts to lighten their skin. I understand the mentality. Even though some blacks consider me light-skinned, my biracial friends and whites are quicker to call me dark-skinned. All depends on your perspective. Anyhoo, I still use the skin lightening cream sold in grocery stores. I tell myself it's just to even out my skin tone. But I feel a little weird at times as it moves down the conveyor belt toward the register. I snickered at my mom when she used beauty products ...

Mommy's definition of the kind of black folks who lacked couth were the ones who might: * Walk down city streets eating and talking "loud and wrong" * Go out in public with curlers in hair * Use words like "gooder," the cringing "his-self" and phrases like "I be going..."
