Hitman Death Threat Email Scam - No Nigerian phishing hoax, this Russian 'born killer' sends murder spam that says pay $20,000 in 5 days or be killed
by Paula Neal Mooney I love my local newspaper, the Akron Beacon Journal , wherein I learned the latest email phishing scam is one called the "Hitman Scam" from a self-titled "born killer." More like born spammer. Believed to have originated in Russia, this "born killer" hitman email spammer-phisher writes, "It is important we come to a conclusion now or never because, I have been hired to kill you." The hitman email scammer goes on to say that if you pay him $20,000 in five days , you'll live. The hitman desperado has added a new twist to the threatening emails, saying someone has already been arrested for murder -- and has even found the names of some recipients' children -- probably gained once people respond or via their online presence.
