Paula's New List of Blogger Salaries (and Webmasters, Affiliate Marketers, Content Scrapers, Domainers and any other title you can think of) June 2007

FIND OUT HOW MUCH BLOGGERS REALLY MAKE ONLINE -- CHECK OUT THIS NEW WEBSITE ABOUT MONEY-MAKING ONLINE CALLED 50 OVER $50K...

by Paula Neal Mooney

The time has come.

The time is now.

Paula N. Mooney will you please publish that list now?!

(Yes, I fancy Dr. Seuss' iambic pentameter.)

My WebMaster blest me with a viral post called "Paula's List of Blogger Salaries," and the response was so wonderful, here lies an update.

It's bigger and better than ever before with more pics, and double the amount of bloggers, webmasters, domainers, affiliate marketers (or a smidgen of some or all of those titles) and their reported incomes.

How Much Do You Make?
Money is funny.

The abundance of it, the lack of it, the subject of cash in general gets attention.

While some invoke their choice not to post their online income nor discuss it at all, I've always been of the Suze Orman mindset ever since I read her first book.

Suze encourages people to talk about, compare numbers and inspire growth in each other by speaking openly about their earnings in order to improve them -- and freely admits that she made around $3 - $5 million last year from freelancing.

In the web world, Yaro Starak tended to agree with my philosophy:

"All I can say about this is that it pays to talk about how much money you make online if you want exposure."

Here, here!

Remember all that attention ShoeMoney got when he posted a pic of his $130-something thousand Adsense check? Nuff said.

What is considered income?
While some are strict to cut out any earnings besides the obvious blog ads and such, others consider all the swag and online services part and parcel of their webmastering or blogging booty.

Like Steve Pavlina put it when discussing his wife Erin's income earned thru readings:

"This is interesting because her blog doesn’t generate income directly, but she earns this income because of her blog."

Get Me Robert Scoble's Income!
You'll notice some people have fallen off this list, including Jason Calacanis (formerly of Weblogs, now of his new web baby Mahalo).

Jason made sure to clarify that the $3,000 per day (equaling $1.095 million annual take) reported by Google was not his solo income, but spread across the network of folks.

Same deal with Tim Flight of GPS Review, who cleared up this article from The Boston Globe stating he made $50K per year.

So those guys are gone till I can get some hard numbers.

And you won't find heavy hitters like Robert Scoble on the list...that is, till one of you blessed readers leaves a comment with a link to a valid reporting of his income.

Enough teasing, here you go:

Hi Paula, it's "money" week on my blog . .. I've interviewed a couple of real estate agents and I got a great money tip from another reader as well.

Next week, I will do some interviews with business owners.

I'd love for folks to stop by. I'm using my journalism background to develop original content.

Thanks for your blog.

Paula, I love your bloggin style, it's really funny. :)

I'm learning something new every day. I've changed appearances of my Google Adsense and today I had a 7% click through rate.

Okay, I had 13 visitors and one 1 click but that's appx 7% . . .

I've also learned how long it takes the ads to change with the themes.

Paula, you had a post where you wrote "why would someone get excited about $500 after working like a Hebrew slave?"

I'm like that . . . I feel encouraged because I'm understanding how the elements of a blog fit together.

If I focus on content and driving traffic, then I believe the money will follow.

Hi Paula! Thanks for offering to include my measely earnings so far! LOL!

Thanks Paula, my next blog update will for sure link to this post!
Ok, this morning I had 3 page impressions and 1 click with Google Adsense for 31 cents. Two days ago, I had one click for 54 cents.

My writing on Associated Content is averaging about $6.50 per article.

My philosophy now is "quality content" and "consistent promotion."

But it's also knowing what your goals are . . . I feel like I'm about ready to launch back into freelance writing - perhaps focusing specifically on writing blogs.

I have to figure it out. i'll keep you posted. :)

btw. I don't like the first two..

I'm sure they have some cibersquatted site..I mean not real squatters, but that kind of sites without content..that kind of sites that made me choose Nafurai.com as domain because 100% intelligent words are taken by that kind of dumb sites.
On a positive note: they made all smart web2.0 people create those fancy-named web sites. That's the real reason behind strange names like squidd,digg,etc..

Hey Zaki
Yeah, I want you on the next list -- whenever that is.

With your new http://www.zakiyamani.com/ added to your chemical engineering site, you should be making some money, heh?

Hey Villager Hicks
Your content is so good. You get lots of comments so I know you have dedicated readers.

At least Google is starting to roll in.

You should take a pic with that check and upload it!

You're there, Probloggermom! :-)
No more waiting, no more teasing...

Hey Paula, my sites are www.inamood.com and www.scalewhore.com - currently the only ones I use to make money off of. I started March 1st and have made $2,223.90 so far - not bad! I started ad $400, then $580, then $702 and currently so far for June $582 and hoping to surpass $702 :)

I'm still knew, learning the tricks of the trade but generally I have earned through paid blogging at various sites.

Hey Old Vic -

Thanks so much for the mention of Paula's New List of Blogger Salaries (and Webmasters, Affiliate Marketers, Content Scrapers, Domainers and any other title you can think of) June 2007!

And thank you for letting me know about your issue with the videos on my site. Is it just the Paris Hilton video page? I just got an error on that page too.

Or is it the videos loaded in my left sidebar?

And when you say that #42 leads you to #41, is it the "Online Marketing Blog" or "Daily Blogging Tips" source link that leads you to #41, 'cause those are working for me.

You've given a great breakdown on your blog showing how many more of these folks -- especially the top paid ones -- use Wordpress.

It's even more validation for my decision to set up my new Watch Free Episodes site on Wordpress.

And now that this list is out, I can get back to creating more content on that one!

Take care and please shoot me an email to paulanealmooney at gmail dot com when you can.

Thanks,
Paula

Yes, I've learned a lot just from reading thru all these other articles and blogs.

And I'm still intrigued by these domainers at the top.

A few things to point out - you only included one source of income for me, so you've got my earnings way off.

Secondly, you're stealing bandwidth by hotlinking my photo, as well as all of the others here. So you shared link love, but stole bandwidth. So not cool!
Paris David said…
Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone.

And please note that I had no idea about bandwidth when only linking to SOME of the photos above, not all.

I'm thankful and grateful for all the people who've written me and appreciate the exposure this list has brought them -- as well as a free link from a PageRank 5 site that many people pay money to receive.

So thank you to you folks.

ps: I have a few blogs but only 3 are generating $$ for me.
Paris David said…
Thanks a bunch, Anonymous!

I found the following info Shoemoney reported about his income on August 28, 2006:

"...the begining of the year was pretty good but this summer has sucked.

"for the year profit wise (gross minus spend) im averaging 200k/month with azoogleads, 80k/month with cj.com, another 100k/mo combination of linkshare/cpaempire and xy7."

"Summers always suck tho... I literally did 500k the first 2 months of this year with azoogleads ringtone ads alone. (which is what inspired the Revenue Magazine article) It was really sweet. To bad that was short lived.

"Ringtones also look to be fading a little but still by far the best roi I have found."

Wow!

So going by Shoemoney's report of his own $380,000 per month "gross minus spend" profit, he's pulling down around $4.56 million a year!

Okay, he's definitely moving up on my list.

Thanks bunches, again.

Hat tip. Curtsey. Everything.

Solid work, Paula. I'm relatively new to blogging and have no realistic aspirations to make it to the mid to upper range of this list. I do find it a little disappointing though to see that the bottom portion of the top 100 are only making a couple thousand $ a year. I realize that your list only includes blogger's data that was available to you, but does this mean that other thousands of bloggers who are trying to earn income make virtually nothing?

Why am I not on this list?

Earning money from blogging isn't that easy, you have to start from the bottom to be one of the top. I am new to this blogging thing and I am getting used to it; earning $100, aside from earning money from it I get to write what I feel and what I want. Don't rush things just try to focus and love what you are doing because through hard work comes a big success in your life. I admire Paula for putting up this post because although she's on the top now she still tries to put others to the top too by letting them now the reason of her success. Hope everyone has this kind of attitude..
