Starbucks Healthcare Insurance Benefits Plan, Policy for Part-time Employees a Hot Search Item...

...or at least I'm hoping Starbucks health insurance benefits will be a hot search item after just watching today's Oprah.

There was a couple deep in debt, and Suze Orman prescribed the woman get a job at Starbucks, because Orman said that Starbucks' health insurance benefits are available to even part-time employees who work at least 90 days at the coffee giant.

In this article with Starbucks' CEO about their health insurance benefits, it states:

"Starbucks provides health insurance for all employees working 20 hours a week and up."

But Starbucks' employees speak here of having a hard time getting 20 hours per week to get their health benefits, in some instances.

Either way, any company that pays its employees full health benefits for part-time status is good in my book.

Now, about that Black Gold movie...

Good post. It is great to see Starbucks to the right thing. I wrote about this last December in - Starbucks: Respect for Workers and Health Care. It is made difficult largely by the incredible expense of health care in the USA - nearly twice as expensive as anywhere else.

There is something out of synch here. The employee is quoted as saying getting work for twenty hours is difficult. Is is all just a PR hype then? If it is not, all strength to Starbucks.

There are other companies that provide healthcare and other benefits for 20 hours per week. UPS has great benefits and, if you work at their US hub in Louisville KY, they will pay for your college education. How 'bout that?! BTW, wish me luck as I take the GMAT for entry into the U of Louisville MBA program (courtesy of UPS).

None of the people I know who is working around 20 hours per week have their companies provide healthcare and other benefits.

Btw, I enjoyed your article.

This is a great post. I sure hope that the people are indeed getting the 20 hours in, though. Corporations need to begin to recognize the responsibilities that they have to people who work for them.
None of the people I know who is working around 20 hours per week have their companies provide healthcare and other benefits.- For the record ;)

The more votes the public gives an article, the better chance it should have to make it to the front page. Theoretically...
