Is Million Dollar Avatar a Scam?

Today I was cruising TechCrunch's post about Explode! and in the comments section I saw a guy pitching something called the Million Dollar Avatar.

I headed on over to the Million Dollar Avatar, and was as happy as a pig in slop when they approved my quick application and my big face made it on the Million Dollar Avatar's front page.

After I joined the Million Dollar Avatar and started surfing the site, I found this in the Million Dollar Avatar's FAQs page:

How do I become a member?
Becoming a Million Dollar Avatar member is very easy. First, walk-thru the 2 step registration process to register your profile and pay the $10/yr membership fee....

Whoa!

Hold the phone Million Dollar Avatar maker!

Who said anything on the Million Dollar Avatar's terms and conditions about money?

(Not that I read those things anyway. But I did just select all and try to find a dollar sign -- no dice.)

Neither could I find out how to win a free membership as stated in the little star thingee on Million Dollar Avatar's first blog posting.

So I'm a little confused, but at least the Million Dollar Avatar guy says he's tithing 10% of the revenue to Lance Armstrong's Live Strong campaign to fight cancer.

Maybe this is a great thing...

Plus, I do have a ton more links and my Technorati ranking is 5,338 -- thank You, Yeshua! -- but I don't know if this is due to Million Dollar Avatar, Explode! or something else.

I still don't know when or how the Million Dollar Avatar plans to collect his 10 bucks.

What do you think?

hey, kevin from MDA here. sorry about that - the $10 reference you mentioned is a typo - shouldn't be there.

I'm planning on releasing a premium service down the road but there will always be basic service available.

After you subscribed the confirmation page details our basic plan and premium plan goals. Again, let me just straighten that out - not a scam...just a mistake on my part.

kevin again from MDA. Wanted to clear about your note about the Live Strong donations. I always like to give something back, but we're not selling MDA as a charity. I just like to help out when I can. So, MDA will be giving 10% of all revenue, after tax, that is generated from our membership fees which are non-existent right now since everyone is getting a free membership). But once I roll out the premium plan then donating part begins. I thought I made that clear, but maybe I miscommunicated.

Also, you must have pulled my first blog post that was updated. The site was in beta for a few days and ideas were still flying about. You must have caught us in beta. Check out the updated blog post (maybe refresh your browser cuz it mighht be cached). Anyway, let me know if you have any questions or concerns by contact me via the MDA site and I'll help clear everything up. I built MDA as a tool to help help people promote and find new sites. Not trying to pull a fast one. Sorry about the confusion.

† Tissa Godavitarne - Scam? Hoax? Or Internet Marketing Genius? Read these reviews...

UPDATE - I can't do it. Just as soon as I signed up with Tissa's people search engine, I cancelled. I just don't feel right about helping people find other people's addresses and phone numbers. AND THIS PRIVACY ISSUE IS GAINING STEAM. CHECK OUT THE CONTROVERSY BREWING OVER THE MYLIFE.COM PRIVACY SELLING ISSUES THAT TISSA USES TO PROVIDE THE PEOPLE SEARCH ENGINE INFO. I know I could probably make money with it, but it's just not sitting right with my soul. Back to the drawing board. I know better things await...
