Does Google rank money-making websites low in their search-engine pages?

A funny thing happened on the way to the bank.

Google stole my traffic.

To put it more precisely, a few of the websites I set up with "buy online" somewhere in the URL were dropped down low in Google's SERPs.

It was a noticeable change. One week pageviews hovering around 2,000 daily -- the next week hovering much lower.

Ranking high for certain terms, the next day that same ranking taken away. And then given back. And then taken away again.

Could it be that the mysterious Google algorithm is set up to check URLs with "buy" or "download" in their URLs?

We know that Google probably checks the expiration date of the URL to take sites with domain expiration dates longer than one year away more seriously, but I think it also checks how much free traffic they're giving to affiliate marketers and the like.

Google penalizing money-making sites?

Google gives a clue towards its attitude towards money-making sites on their "reconsideration request" page, which forces you to admit your site "...no longer violates Google's quality guidelines...." even if you didn't violate them in the first place, then states:

"In general, sites that directly profit from traffic (e.g. search engine optimizers, affiliate programs, etc.) may need to provide more evidence of good faith before a site will be reconsidered."

Some say this is Google's way of forcing money-making sites to use Google Adwords to promote their websites instead of merely good, hard blogging SEO work for free.

Anyway, I submitted my reconsideration request. We'll see what happens....

Don't limit your SEO technique for just one title per blog. You can have multiple title for your one blog i.e different title for different posts. Have a glance at this trick Swap Blog Title for Post.

Since I'm fascinated with how much money bloggers and webmasters are making nowadays, I've created a similar list -- a random sampling of people making money on the net. FIND OUT HOW MUCH BLOGGERS REALLY MAKE ONLINE -- CHECK OUT THIS NEW WEBSITE ABOUT MONEY-MAKING ONLINE CALLED 50 OVER $50K... by Paula Neal Mooney The time has come. The time is now. Paula N. Mooney will you please publish that list now?! (Yes, I fancy Dr. Seuss' iambic pentameter.) My WebMaster blest me with a viral post called "Paula's List of Blogger Salaries," and the response was so wonderful, here lies an update. It's bigger and better than ever before with more pics, and double the amount of bloggers, webmasters, domainers, affiliate marketers (or a smidgen of some or all of those titles) and their reported incomes. How Much Do You Make? Money is funny. The abundance of it, the lack of it, the subject of cash in general gets attention. While some invoke their choice not to post their online income nor discuss it at all, I've always been of the Suze Orman mindset ever since I read her first book. Suze encourages people to talk ab...

UPDATE - I can't do it. Just as soon as I signed up with Tissa's people search engine, I cancelled. I just don't feel right about helping people find other people's addresses and phone numbers. I know I could probably make money with it, but it's just not sitting right with my soul. Back to the drawing board. I know better things await... I kept trying to rationalize that many people could use the people search engines for good purposes, like reconnecting with old classmates and finding deadbeat dads and such -- but the reality is that if just one person uses them for nefarious purposes, I just don't want to be a part of that.
