"Livin' 4" by J. Moss speaks to everything I'm feeling today...
It's one of those songs I played over and over and over and over again in my car before I gave the CD away after it first came out.
And now that these feelings have resurged like something kicking me in the gut, I'll probably listen to the MP3 of J. Moss' Living 4 over and over and over and over again...
And here are those lovely lyrics about sin, personified as a woman -- with J Moss honestly triumphant in turning his back on her:
Rap intro:
Oh no...
Thought it'd never come
That day that I tell her that I've gotta run
Run back to the Savior and do my labor
Because His word is razor sharp
I forgot I hid it in my heart
Gotta do a clean sweep on the spot and drop
Everything that ain't clean
Don't take it for being mean
A brother's gotta fulfill his dreams "ya know mean"
You made my toes bring my balance to the floor
You made my feet walk right over to your door
You had my ankles tangled and puzzled
You had my knees to the point they buckled
(What you doin' to me)
In the light of day I'd stumble over your way
Couldn't wait for the night time
The high time the right time
Being as it was we had to close the door
It was like turning away from a million bucks
But I can't see you no more
Chorus
It's like the cold of a lonely night
The draft of a window not shut tight
I've got a hunger for being right
That's what I'm living for - I'm living for
Enticed by the things you do
Is a one-way ticket to a devil's hell foolin' with you
My soul wants to be true
That's what I'm living for - I'm living for
You had my legs on a virtual restrainer
I could not move without permission from my trainer
You had my arms and hands wrapped around your lust
You made my heart bust
(What cha sayin' to me)
In the light of day I'd stumble over your way
Couldn't wait for the night time
The high time the right time
Being as it was we had to close the door
It was like turning away from a million bucks
But I can't see you no more
Chorus
Bridge
I give my life not unto temptation
Nor condemnation for my soul
Is more important to me
Chorus

Did you see the jena 6 on Dr. Phil on Friday. I'm glad someone put up the bail for that child to get out of jail!
"I'm looking for a miracle, expect the impossible..."
Hi Bonnie -
Yes, a friend urged me to read "Wild at Heart" -- so I'm reading that now.
And last night I bought "Reposition Yourself," so I'll be digging into that one next.
The Jena Six case on Dr. Phil was good to see. And he's gonna continue it Monday -- I think Mychal Bell is going to be on there.
Thanks for hipping me to the interviews. It was good to see all sides represented.
Love,
Paula
But the overriding sense I get from the song are being able to relate to incorrectly looking back wistfully at the sin that we prayed to get away from.
