TV Junkie Rick Kirkham's Video Diaries...From Big-Time Reporter to Crack Addict and Back

UPDATE: I'm glad to see this ABC News report about Rick Kirkham... by Paula Neal Mooney I was up all hours of the night engulfed by an HBO documentary titled TV Junkie . TV Junkie is the harshly honest and amazing video diaries of TV journalist junkie Rick Kirkham . Rick was a super successful Inside Edition adventure-man reporter who spiraled into a sad and sick life of a crack addict, wife beater and failing father whom you expect to blow his brains out any minute as his video life unfolds. What is so amazing is that Rick Kirkham tapes just about everything -- his wild flings on the road with women across the globe to his marriage to Tammy -- a sweet and loooonnnnggg-suffering Southern gal who weeps for her drug-addicted husband. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhvSz5G94xI&feature=emb_title https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhvSz5G94xI&feature=emb_title Rick doesn't even turn the camera off as he does crack, but instead gives a grippingly raw po...

NBC Direct -- Full and free episodes of The Office, Heroes -- and (pay for?) Life, Bionic Woman, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno

by Paula Neal Mooney For a person who writes a web site about where to download TV shows online , this new NBC Direct program, where you can soon download free and full episodes of 'The Office' and 'Heroes' is the best news I've heard all day. (Let's hope and pray Mychal Bell being fully exonerated will be the next best news I hear today.) NBC Direct is getting it right. With NBC Direct, TV viewers will be able to download full episodes of shows like Life, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (will they all be free?) and keep them on their PCs for a week before they expire. When is ABC going to get smarter and offer something similar (for shows like Oprah and The View ) akin to NBC Direct ? I get hits all the time searching for full and free episodes of The Oprah Show (like this popular recent one about Jenny McCarthy, Holly Robinson Peete and their sons with autism) that don't exist! They are l...

Toni Braxton Breaks Down and Cries on The View Over Autistic Son

by Paula Neal Mooney Today was an amazing episode of The View , with the whole show dedicated to issues of autism. Toni Braxton co-hosted with the other women, but she wasn't discussing her latest Las Vegas appearance, nor some scandalous barely-there dress. Toni Braxton spoke of her youngest son, Diezel, 3, and his recent diagnosis of autism. And like any mother reeling from the shock of an only 4-month-old diagnosis, Toni Braxton broke down and cried when describing the symptoms that clued her in that something was wrong. "I'm sorry," Toni Braxton wept, dropping her face into her palms. "I get all emotional." "That's okay," Rosie comforted. I, too, wept along with Toni Braxton , empathizing with the raw and real pain a parent can feel when coming to the realization that their child might not be "normal" in the eyes of the world. Thankfully, there were other parents of autistic children on The View that shared how they deal with au...

Could You Survive in the Wild Alone? Learn from SurvivorMan Les Stroud

by Paula Neal Mooney I caught this dude Les Stroud -- aka SurvivorMan -- on The View yesterday, and I'm still thinking about him this morning so you know that's my cue to blog about him. Les Stroud hosts the Discovery Channel show called SurvivorMan , which tracks Stroud's survival in perilous locations with no food and water. SurvivorMan must do just that -- survive on his own, as a solo man. No fawning, background crew handing him KitKats. No paramedics on hand. Les Stroud is the real deal, no reality show fake is he. He has people drop him off in crazy and remote places and tells them to come pick him up after seven days. Seven days. Just SurvivorMan and his camera to film how he's getting along: making a fire out of an old gas can and its fumes, eating a scorpion after removing the stinger, or using his SurvivorMan mouth to pull the needle-like point off the top of a plant to reveal -- voila! -- the strong-as-hell thread attached. Who knew? I've read that...

The View May Hire Sherri Shepherd

by Paula Neal Mooney Just when I was about to write an open blog post to Barbara Walters begging old Babs to hire comedienne Sherri Shepherd for a permanent gig on The View , I caught this little tidbit on Canada.com Canada.com claims that a deal is already being worked out to make Sherri Shepherd a permanent replacement for Star Jones' empty spot on The View . I still sent emails to Barbara Walters , Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (It's no wonder why Rosie's email option is missing -- all that negative feedback about her Asian news reporter impersonations must've killed their servers.) I begged the ladies to make Sherri Shepherd the "token" View lady. (No, I didn't really say that...) Anyway, if you haven't caught Sherri Shepherd on The View lately, you've missed a real treat. Not only has Sherri Shepherd been hilarious, Sherri's regaled The View's viewers with her tales of woe: Shepherd recently caught her husband, Jeff Tarp...

Danny DeVito Drunk on The View Calls Bush...

..."numb nuts" and such. Boy, if you didn't catch ol' drunk Danny DeVito slurring on The View today, you missed a show! But catch Danny DeVito on The View right now and watch ol' Danny boy's routine highly disrespecting Bush and going on about Danny and Rhea getting busy in the White House and everything. DeVito made me laugh when I watched him on the copy of The View I TiVo'd today, because I was so stressed out with my kids that I'd grabbed a tiny bottle of white wine to sip before I watched Danny DeVito make a fool of himself. A tipsy person laughing at a drunkard. It was hard not to agree with some of his drunken tirade right after I heard on the news that we might bone up our presence in Iraq with 20,000 more troops. But DeVito took it a little too far, and I'm standing by the man I voted for. The audience laughed at Danny Devito when he hiccupped just like a lush...in the daytime. Now I hear Danny has apologized to Barbara Walters...
