Beyonce's Master Cleanser Diet Fast...Is it Safe?

I would be remiss not to first mention a great new book I just finished reading called The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong? . I believe The Overfed Head: What If Everything You Know About Weight Loss Is Wrong? is a better philosophy than The Master Cleanser . While I have fasted here and there to try and get closer to God, if you're fasting for weight loss reasons, I'd recommend first buying and trying The Overfed Head theory. The guy lost 160 lbs. and has kept it off since 1998. Plus, he writes about how dramatic weight loss from some diets is harmful because you regain it all back and then some. Please read The Overfed Head first if you're considering other things. It makes sense. by Paula Neal Mooney Beautiful Beyonce appeared on a recent Oprah show telling the world how Beyonce lost 20 pounds with a "Master Cleanser" diet fast. Beyonce went on this 14-day fast -- a liquid diet , I guess, that includes vegetables -- in or...

Cult Killer: Ricky Rodriguez' Revenge Against the Family of God

by Paula Neal Mooney I don't know how many of you caught 20/20's two-hour special about revenge last night, which devoted an entire hour to the new movie Cult Killer , a documentary about Rick Rodriguez , but it was amazing. And it's beyond sad when people pervert the Word of God and turn it into something weird that serves their own demonic doings. That's what a group dubbed both "The Family" and "Children of God" did, led by David Berg. That's David Berg in this photo with his "foster" son, Ricky Rodriguez , a little boy who suffered untold sexual abuse. Ricky Rodriguez is the focal point of the new documentary Cult Killer: The Rick Rodriguez Story . Unfortunately, the abuse Rick Rodriguez suffered -- part of it chronicled in Cult Killer -- drove him to kill and commit suicide and turned him against the real King of kings, Christ. Watch a preview of Cult Killer: The Rick Rodriguez Story here, but be warned, it contains cursing --...

Are We All Lonesome Fame Junkies?

Are We All Lonesome Fame Junkies? by Paula Neal Mooney Why is J-Lo more popular than Jesus? That's one of the questions asked by Jake Halpern , author of Fame Junkies: The Hidden Truths Behind America's Favorite Addiction . I caught 20/20's interview with Jake Halpern Friday night, and the thing that keeps sticking in my mind about Fame Junkies is that Jake believes we're all lonelier than ever in our real lives -- working in front of computers all day and not connecting with each other -- then we come home and surf the web more. Because of this loneliness, the Fame Junkies' author posits that we seek fame because we believe it will buy us a measure of happiness and human connection that we lack in our every day lives. This theory could be especially true for folks like me, who spend our workdays in the company of very few people. Like the lifeguard at my health club's pool, who unveiled his life to me as I became his sounding board, hanging around in the h...

My husband gets on my nerves...

...because last night when I asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he gave his standard, “Oh, you don’t have to get me anything.” A seemingly altruistic response, but truly infuriating for folks like me who then have to guess at what he wants, because we’re gonna get him something. I, for one, could’ve added a gazillion items to our family’s gift idea list on Amazon, which I started last night. You’ll notice that there are no gifts selected by my hubby, who is not one to receive gifts well. But, I’m grateful that he likes to give, and that he’s just looking out for our debt situation like I keep harping on reducing all year long. He’s really a sweetie pie, so here’s hoping I find him something that he’ll love. So, for any family members or friends reading this blog, here’s our list. Please create one for your family too and send it on over to me! For Big Papa: Wish I knew. Maybe if he tells me, I’ll update this post later. For the Little Wifey: I just added this cool new Braun MX2050...
